Bicycle Portable—Mark ⅠⅠⅠ

The third iteration of my setup added a proper mounting bracket and a handlebar-mounted PTT button. The mounting location is a small RadioShack project box, epoxied to a chopped-off bell clamp, then clamped and wedged into the center of the diamond-shaped center of my handlebar. Epoxied to the cover of the box is a mobile phone belt clip, which receives the two mounting buttons bolted to the slot in the Kenwood’s battery clip. A thin cable soldered to the perfboard inside connects the 2.5mm headphone jack to the PTT button (obtained from KD6OCS), which is epoxied to the bolt that clamps the brake lever onto the handlebar. If and when I need a different mounting system for a different radio, all I have to do is unscrew to the top of the project box and screw in an identical top with the new mounting hardware.
